Yes. Plenty of well-known people from entertainment, art, and business are part-time locals and homeowners here. You just won't find a list from us, and that's kind of the point. Around here, who someone is outside of town matters a lot less than whether they're good company on the lift or at the coffee shop.

Pretty normal, honestly. Telluride is a tight-knit community, and the different groups within it overlap in an open, neighborly way. It isn't unusual for full-time locals to become real friends with people who happen to be famous. You meet on the trail, at a dinner party, or on your kids' soccer sideline, and that's the relationship.
Why do celebrities choose Telluride over other resort towns?
Because they can simply be here. A lot of resort towns come with cameras and attention. Telluride doesn't really work that way. The local culture cares much more about living well in the Colorado mountains than about who is famous, so gawking just isn't an interesting pastime. That lets people who are well known for any reason relax and unwind. For many of them, it's one of the rare places they can step away from the world at large.
Is Telluride private enough for high-profile buyers?
For the most part, yes. The privacy doesn't come from gates or security so much as from the community itself. People here respect each other's space, and that's a big part of why so many high-profile owners stay for decades.
